Everyday we should be conscious of our footprint, but especially on Earth Day. When I first learned the true impact the fast fashion industry has on our environment I was blown away. Let me list some facts for you to get a better understanding of what I'm talking about.

  • It takes up to 200 years for a garment to decompose

  • It takes 2,700 litres of water to make a singular t-shirt

  • The average American throws away somewhere around 80 pounds of clothing per year

  • Brands destroy billions of dollars worth of clothing every year in order to maintain brand exclusivity.

  • The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world next to energy.

We're all guilty of over-consuming. By being aware of the impact our clothing usage has on the world is an important first step towards a more sustainable environment.

What are the next steps?

  • Buy less

  • Choose sustainable options

  • Support ethical brands

  • Shop secondhand

  • Care for your clothing

  • Donate / recycle your clothing
